This hardy crabapple has a vase shaped spreading habit with deep purple buds that open to rose-pink blooms with a star-like center. Produces one inch edible bright red fruit, excellent for jams and jelly. Crabapples are adaptable to a variety of sites and prefer a heavy-loam soil, but will tolerate clay soils as long as they are well drained but moist, with no standing water. Flowering crabs require full sun and open exposure to increase air circulation.
